We had the privilege of hosting lecture by Mr. Kannan R, Corporate & Economic Advisor, Independent Director, and Member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council.  Mr. Kannan delivered a thought-provoking session on India’s FinTech ecosystem, offering deep insights into the country’s digital financial revolution. He shed light on the strategic and policy-level challenges and opportunities for FinTech startups, discussed governance models, scaling strategies, and global expansion, and highlighted the future of finance with a strong emphasis on financial inclusion.

CIFIL has organised a webinar on Exploring the World of Mutual Fund by Mr. Gururaj on 10 September 2024.  Mr. Gururaj is a Consultant – Investor Education & Distributor Development, Aditya Birla Sunlife Mutual Funds.  He worked with Aditya Birla Sunlife Mutual Fund as Assistant Vice President (IE& DD).  he has handled various assignments like Research & Development, Business Development, R&T, IT, Accounts etc.

Session on CBDC by Reserve Bank of India
August 13, 2024

CIFIL, in coordination with the Reserve Bank of India, organized a session on the Central Bank Digital Currency Outreach Program (CBDC). India's CBDC, referred to as the Digital Rupee or e-Rupee, is a digital form of cash that users can hold in their CBDC wallets. India is one of the pioneers in launching a CBDC pilot at scale.

Fire side chat was organised with MBA & B.Tech students of IIT Madras by  Mr. Janakiraman.  Mr. Janakiraman is a  Senior Product Manager, Platform Capabilities, Global Lead – LSEG ‘Business Book Club, and Lead – LSEG Toastmasters London.  In this unique fireside chat format, Mr. Janakiraman engaged with students on a diverse range of topics, including Artificial Intelligence (and Generative AI), cybersecurity, emerging digital trends, and geopolitics.

Innovision Hackathon

Indian Bank, in collaboration with CIFIL (CAMS IITM Fintech Innovation Lab), conducted the Innovision Hackathon 2025 at IIT Madras and presented awards to the winning teams. 


This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, encouraging public sector banks to partner with premier institutions to drive innovation in FinTech and Cybersecurity. 


The hackathon aimed to nurture entrepreneurial talent and develop practical solutions for real-world banking challenges.


A total of 33 teams from IIT Madras participated in the event, with 21 teams—12 in FinTech and 9 in Cybersecurity—shortlisted based on innovation, relevance, and impact. 


These teams were mentored by experts from Indian Bank and IIT Madras to transform their ideas into working prototypes. The top three teams were awarded prizes and mementos for their outstanding solutions. 


The award ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Binod Kumar (MD & CEO, Indian Bank), Prof. V. Kamakoti (Director, IIT Madras), Kirti (Joint Director, DFS), Suvendu Pati (CGM, RBI), Mahesh Kumar Bajaj (ED, Indian Bank), Srinivasa Rao (Sr. Advisor, IBA), Anuj Kumar (MD, CAMS), and Benjamin Ambrose (CISO, NPCI).
